For one of my birthday presents, David took me to the Madrid Zoo Aquarium located in Casa de Campo. For those of you who know me, you know I am OBSESSED with birds. All birds. Especially parrots. So I was more than happy to participate in the Exotic Birds Show during my visit!
Over 500 different kinds of animals!First, we went to all of the different animal shows - Exotic birds, Raptors, Dolphins and Sea Lions. The dolphin show was the most impressive. I thought that it was interesting how the trainers showed how they train the dolphins using a long pole that the dolphins touch with their noses and follow.
The aquarium was quite impressive, with a huge tank with sea turtles, sharks and fish. There are about 6,000 animals at the zoo, from about 500 different species. In general, the zoo was nice and big enough to spend the afternoon, but it is a bit pricey and not all of the installations are modern or very big. I would recommend Faunia over the Madrid Zoo, because they have some parts where you can get really close to the animals. Two parts of the Madrid Zoo where you can get pretty close to the animals are the bears and giraffes.
This is our last month in Madrid, and there is so much to do before we get married (again) in Barcelona and then take off for Thailand! I'll be posting as much as I can, so keep up with us by checking back here. Thanks for reading!
